The Korvids
"Tender Tyrannies"
Hot on the heels of their debut album the industrious Glasgow duo present mini-anthem "Tender Tyrannies".
The Korvids are a Glasgow based duo consisting of James Grant and Gordy Goudie. James was the front man for Love & Money, everyone's favourite band from the 1980's who should have been massive but somehow weren't. Gordy is no stranger to the business having produced Simple Minds and played bass and guitar for The Primevals and Echo And The Bunnymen. After the success of their debut release Beach Coma, which was picked up by Sirius US radio and remixed by Balaeric legend Jose Padilla, the duo released Bad Faith, a beauteous cut of late 70's disco remixed by Love & Money and Steely Dan's producer Gary Katz.
Hot on the heels of their debut album the industrious Glasgow duo present mini-anthem "Tender Tyrannies". The track features the smooth and powerful vocals of Sarah Brown. The original seamlessly melds a big vocal, jazzy Rhodes, slick swinging grooves, shimmering strums and a overdriven guitar solos. Talking of overdrive... next we overdrive the disco quotient, with the remix from Slovenian based producer Sare Havlicek. He ups the tempo and the bounce for a roller-disco-meets-dancefloor excursion.
The "Haunted Summer House Mix" finshes off the EP with The Korvids approaching the original from a slightly more leftfield angle, homing in slick keys, backing vocals and extending the instrumentation in all the right places.
The eponymously titled debut album from The Korvids is out now.
