Matt Garlick cut his DJing molars in 1990 playing The Stooges and MC5 to crazy Scotsmen at The Mission on Victoria St in Edinburgh. He would finish up his sets and head down to The Venue to gain his education in dance music at Pure, arguably the finest club night to ever come out of the Scottish capital. Record buying habits changed. Chicago became the first place Matt would look for his vinyl fix. He got himself a pair of 1210’s, to which he chained himself and worked at emulating the likes of Chez Damier and Ron Trent. Altered States indeed... Pastures new beckoned and those pastures were pre Nathan Barley Shoreditch. Residencies at The Pool and The Reliance gave Matt an outlet for his vinyl addiction with regular guest appearances at The Blue Note, 333 and Plastic People to name a few. Matt made his first forays into production with couple of releases for ditch labels Kontraband and Fragments.
