"Shield Of Love"
Better late than never... we finally get a record that we signed back in 2011/2 out the door.
Next up on Nang we finally get a record that we signed back in 2011/2 out the door. Quite why it has taken us 6 years of A&R to turn this one around is well beyond us. But better late than never.
Unclepasha first had his Grapevine EP out in 2011 which was not only varied and eclectic but also most well received. "Shield Of Love" follows in that vein. It's a construction of genres, sounds and beats which cross disco, house, jazz, breakbeat, soul and pop.
The original features a vocal paring of London based soul-producer, musician, video-director, photographer, entrepreneur, model and superhuman OD Hunte and Nang label head honcho Loudery (he only has one string to his bow...boo hoo). The music straddles jazz keyboard solos, darting breakbeaty drums, housey baselines all merged with souly grooves and pop chord changes.
On the remix tip Loudery has pestered his old Slovenian buddy into dressing up in purple and getting all Prince on yo' ass. The DMX drums are in full force and grooves are bold and portamenty. Choppy guitar and pulsey bass drive the music along just for bendy and slightly out of tune keyboard twiddles to jump in.
The package also features two instrumentals of the track s which strip out the vocals and give it to us all instrumental... like.
